School health services play a crucial role in promoting the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of students, especially in regions like Yobe State, where access to healthcare is limited. These services include regular health checkups, immunization programs, health education, and the management of common health issues such as malnutrition, vision problems, and mental health disorders. In many developing areas, such as Yobe State, schools are often the first point of contact for children to receive medical care. However, the availability and quality of these services can vary widely, influencing their effectiveness in improving student well-being. This study seeks to assess the impact of school health services on the overall well-being of students in Yobe State, focusing on how these services contribute to students' physical and mental health, academic performance, and overall development.
Despite the recognized importance of school health services, their implementation and accessibility in Yobe State remain limited, particularly in rural areas. This has resulted in several health-related challenges for students, including untreated health conditions, absenteeism, and hindered academic performance. The absence of comprehensive school health programs may contribute to higher rates of preventable diseases and reduced quality of life for students. This study aims to investigate the role of school health services in improving student well-being and to evaluate the effectiveness of these services in addressing health needs in Yobe State.
The study will focus on secondary schools across urban and rural areas of Yobe State. Limitations include potential biases in self-reported health data from students and school staff, as well as the challenge of obtaining comprehensive data on the health services provided in schools due to inconsistencies in record-keeping.
